Culture Question:

Do they really believe in God?
or just want to have a spiritual support to comfort themselves?

(posted: Sep 2010)

Neither I, nor anyone else can say for sure what anyone else really believes. What I can say with certainty is that many people really do say that they believe in God. I have both relatives and friends who have told me directly that they believe in God.

People do seem to get comfort out of their professed belief in God and all that this belief means to them. It may be that for some it is this comfort that is the motivator for them. But we cannot really know what is going on in someone else’s head.

I have included links to a couple of websites where people have asked the same question you have and others on the Internet have answered. Some people answer by saying that they personally believe in God. Other people answer that they don’t believe in God, or that they just don’t know.
