Song

I wrote this song during a song writer's weekend retreat a number of years ago. It is the first song that my dog, GouGou, has contributed to.

Working Dog
by Ruth Anderson

When I get up
I do my business and I eat
And then it’s time to hit the streets
For another day in the harness

I watch my step
And I’m never out of line,
I do my job and I don’t whine
That just the way that they trained me

CHORUS
‘Cause I’m a workin’, workin’, workin’, workin’,
workin’, workin’, workin’, workin’, dog;
a workin’ dog.
Yes I’m a workin’, workin’, workin’, workin’,
workin’, workin’, workin’, workin’, dog;
a workin’ dog

I work for food
I get my dinner and a a bed
A lot of pats upon the head
That’s how I am, just sorta loyal

I toe the line
I serve a master through the day
Sometimes ‘ll even let me play
My life is full, I know I’m needed

CHORUS
